Health & Wellbeing

You’ve seen my various bullet journaling posts each month, but something I haven’t talked about much is why I bullet journal. Very simply, it has done my mental health a world of good. Here’s a few idea of how bullet journaling can have a positive effect on your mental health. If you don’t already keep a journal, then why not have a go! Getting creative First and foremost, the creativity aspect. Getting creative, whether that be via an ‘adult’ colouring book or bullet journaling, helps you focus and relaxes your mind. You can unplug from everyday stresses and have some much-needed you time. Put on some calming music and add… Read more

High Street Sustainable Fashion: 5 Affordable Brands with Sustainable Clothing Items

Hope everyone enjoyed the long Easter weekend! Since switching up my content and lifestyle to include more eco-friendly aspects, I’ve paid close attention to fashion and the origins of my clothes. The damaging effects of fast fashion are being exposed more, and it’s made me want to start developing my wardrobe more environmentally and ethically. The only problem here is the price. As a student, most sustainable brands are out of my price reach, or so I thought. I’ve recently discovered great affordable high street sustainable fashion brands that have clothing lines that don’t break the bank! This doesn’t mean the whole brand is sustainable, but they offer some products that are and hopefully this is just the start! Read more

Gluten-Free Oat Raisin Cookies

Something you may/may not know is that I’ve gone gluten-free to see if that helps with the Crohn’s. As a result, I’ve been trying more gf products. The hardest part is what to have when you get those in-between meal cravings. Whilst the gf cakes/biscuits are really good now, they still have a lot of sugar in them. Therefore, I was inspired to create my own healthier version. These gluten-free oat raisin cookies are adapted from this recipe on BBC Good Food, along with some inspiration from this Dove Farm recipe. They are really easy to make and only take 10 minutes in the oven, so you don’t have to wait long before eating them! Read more

Continental Cafe, Syston

If you are ever in Leicestershire and want a cosy little cafe to enjoy a full English breakfast, lovely lunch or perhaps just a tea and cake break, the Continental Cafe in Syston is a wonderful place. With good prices and friendly staff, the cafe is a great find and perfectly situated in Syston town centre. It provided the perfect escape from the grey, wet weather yesterday, with the interior being calming and inviting, and the cooked breakfast and tea was excellent fuel for spending the rest of the day in Nottingham. I enjoyed my brunch in the cafe’s extension, which is only a couple of years old and it is a really peaceful area, just tucked away from the main cafe and ordering area. You can enjoy afternoon teas here too. Read more

How to Have a Balanced Healthy Lifestyle

Since blogging, I have made no attempt to hide that I hate exercise and love chocolate. Kind of a bad combination if you want to be a healthy in any way, shape or form. Recently though, I have realised how important it is to stay healthy. Of course, this is through a combination of health and fitness bloggers who make me feel guilty, and actually using the free gym membership at uni! Read more

Clarins Beauty Bar in John Lewis, Leeds

https://www.clarins.co.uk/beautybar.html On Friday, I decided to get the coach home from Leeds Bus Station, but had some time to kill before departure. I decided to visit the new John Lewis at Victoria Gate, which is the biggest store outside of London. When strolling around, a lady from Clarins grabbed my attention as they were giving complimentary treatments at the Clarins Beauty Bar, which is one of nine in the country. I was in need of some relaxation, so I accepted the offer straight away. The Beauty Bar is very calming, with neutral tones and vanity lights throughout, so you can fully enjoy the experience. I went to the gym!

It’s official! Today, I got up nice and early and went to the gym! I think it was about the third time I have ever been in my entire life, which looks really bad, but I am not your typical fitness fanatic. Plus, with the amount of walking that I have been doing at uni I haven’t really felt the need! Nevertheless, I knew that off-peak gym membership was included with my accommodation, so I thought I might as well make use of it. And…I enjoyed it! Read more

Product Review: Birchbox October 2016

Birchbox sign up link on my Twitter: https://twitter.com/meganelifestyle I have finally caught on to the idea of subscription boxes. So far I have tested Glossybox and Birchbox , but Birchbox has been my favourite out of the two. The actual box is beautifully designed and I love how it is a little drawer as well, as I did need some more makeup storage. I look forward to next month’s design! Read more

Northern Craft

For those who saw me tweeting about Northern Craft yesterday, well don’t worry, the blog post is now here. I’d been aware of Northern Craft for quite a while, so I was thrilled when I found out that they were having an event yesterday. The craft fair was held on the top floor of the Northern Monk Brewery Co. in the delightful Holbeck Urban Village, which I will mention later. The building itself is something to be admired with stripped back brickwork and modern touches. The brewery also plays host to a cool quirky bar, selling local beers. It is the perfect place to host this unique, artisan and independent event. Getting to the brewery was a bit eventful, I got lost and was rushing as I wanted to be one of the first 50 people who received a free goodie bag (I’m still a child at heart!) I’m glad I did rush. I am happy to say I now have these lovely little treats. Read more
