Top Productivity Tips To Help Manage Your Work
After a year away from university, getting back into the work mindset was hard. I had a whole year to focus solely on my blog and my health, so trying to juggle those with university is a struggle at times. However, now I have been back for a couple of months now, I am realising the best strategies that keep me motivated, productive and on top of my work. I know that everyone is different, but here are my top productivity tips that really help me and hopefully you can adapt them to suit your lifestyle.
Break Things Down Into Small Steps
When you are faced with big tasks to complete, whether that is a dissertation, a presentation at work or an important blog campaign, it is difficult not to view the task as one overall job that will take a long time to complete.
Instead, try breaking tasks down into small steps. Set yourself goals that will take half an hour or an hour. This way, the situation doesn’t seem so daunting, but you find that the more small steps you go through, the closer you become to achieving your goal.
Take Regular Breaks
I know that it is hard to take long breaks when you are working full-time, but regular breaks help productivity. I’m sure we’ve all experienced how working for several hours straight can make us lose concentration and feel tired, right?
Even if it is just a quick walk to stretch your legs and clear your mind, it is really important to give your mind and body a rest every so often.
Develop a Morning and Evening Routine
One of my worst habits is wasting time in the morning and evening.
How much time do you spend in the morning deciding what to wear and organising your bag?
All those little things take up time in the morning, so in the evening, have a go at getting things prepared for the next day. Lay out tomorrow’s clothes, get your bag packed, make your lunch etc.
This way, you can be up and ready for each day in no time.
I am also a morning person, so having that extra time really does benefit me. Of course, we all have our optimum times for productivity, so you can work this preparation around the time that best suits you.
Get a Good Night’s Sleep
When you have a lot of work to do, the temptation can be to work later and/or get up earlier than usual. While this may seem smart from the point of view of having more time to do work, getting less sleep is one of the worst things you can do.
Not getting the full amount of sleep your body needs will not increase productivity and instead just make you feel more tired and make it harder to concentrate.
Make sure you are getting the rest you need and give yourself time at the end of the day to wind down.
Eat Properly
When we are on the go all the time, it is hard not to fall into a pattern of grabbing a quick snack when you are hungry.
However, to be fully productive, eating properly is important to give your mind and body the energy they need to focus.

I know these things may seem simple, but they are key aspects of our lifestyle that we can take for granted and forget about easily. While there is more detailed advice that I may write about at a later date, I truly believe these top productivity tips are the key to making the most of your time.
Let me know how you get on!
