Why It's OK to Take a Break

Let’s cut to the chase. It’s been 11 days since my last blog post, which for me is pretty unusual. With social media and blogging, there can be this pressure to constantly be online. When you read blogging tips, the thing that always comes up is consistency. You can only grow your blog/business when you’re always showing up. But what do you do when it gets overwhelming and you need to step back for a moment? Here’s why it’s OK to take a break.

It doesn’t have to be a for a long time, even a day can be a huge help. Don’t be afraid to go and do something different for a bit. After all, no matter how much you love social media, you want to reduce the risk of the dreaded blogger burnout. So, if you ever start to feel the slightest bit stressed or lacking motivation when it comes to the blog, take a break and come back to it feeling refreshed.

It will still be there when you come back

If you take a break for a day or two from social media, it will still be there when you get back. It’s easy to catch up, so please don’t feel like you are missing out on the latest news by not scrolling through your feeds every hour.

In recent years, it seems like people feel like they are losing out on something by not being online. However, if we’re always checking Twitter or Instagram, then we’ll miss what is actually going on in front of us in the present. Don’t forget to live your life in front of you and not through your phone screen.

Find more inspiration

Writer’s block is real. There’s been a few times when I’ve posted something just for the sake of getting a blog post out, and straight away regretted it. Take some time behind the scenes to refocus, gather your thoughts and go out and find inspiration. I’ve been on holiday this past week and it has helped clear my mind!

You take priority

Last, but not least, self-care is not selfish! Looking after yourself should always be the top priority. Don’t feel bad about taking time off for you, whether that be for your mental health or just because you’ve been working hard for a long time and deserve a break.
