Interview: Nada, Leicester’s First Zero Waste Store

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. I’m so pleased to be able to share this interview I did with Lauren from Nada, the first zero waste store in Leicester. Here are Lauren’s thoughts on all things Nada, going self-employed and leading more eco-friendly lifestyles. I also managed to take a few photos of the shop. The cereal dispensers are storage goals! What is Nada and how did it come about? Nada is Leicester’s first zero waste shop and we sell dried goods, food without packaging, refillable kitchen and bathroom goods, and alternatives to single-use plastics. It came about because I was trying to reduce my own plastic waste…

    Photo Shoot with KM Photographic

As promised, I am sharing details (and photos) of my shoot with Kirstie from KM Photographic. For those of you who don’t know, Kirstie is the amazing blogger from Behind the Scent, who has now launched her photography business, KM Photographic. I was fortunate enough to be invited on a Blogtography Taster Session in Leicester along with 5 other bloggers. I had an hour-long shoot, with 1 outfit and 5 photos at the end. Whilst this session was free, I have to say Kirstie’s rates are very reasonable and is one of the only photographers I know in Leicestershire who understands a blogger’s needs for great photos. This was my…

    Hollows Farm Vintage Tearooms, Leicester

*I decided to write this post. It is not in collaboration with anyone.* I feel like you would only know about Hollows Farm Vintage Tearoom if you lived nearby or a friend told you about it. That’s how my family have came across this little gem. My mum heard about it from a friend at work and although this sweet place is down the road from us, we didn’t know it existed until then! So, I thought why not spread the word, so that Hollows Farm can be enjoyed by all! I guess you would not think to drive down a farm track, but tucked down a country lane just…

    LeOne Designers

It is not often that you find independent shops in the middle of a big commercial shopping centre. However, LeOne Designers in Highcross, Leicester has broken this tradition. Situated next to the likes of Mango and Karen Millen, LeOne is a prime example of handmade, high-end, couture fashion right on your doorstep. The shop also sells accessories such as jewellery, hats and scarves handcrafted by local designers, which is fantastic because you can support your community when you purchase anything.  The LeOne Designers was set up and is run by a fashion designer and a millinery & accessories designer. When you go into the shop, you are not just meeting…

    Continental Cafe, Syston

If you are ever in Leicestershire and want a cosy little cafe to enjoy a full English breakfast, lovely lunch or perhaps just a tea and cake break, the Continental Cafe in Syston is a wonderful place. With good prices and friendly staff, the cafe is a great find and perfectly situated in Syston town centre. It provided the perfect escape from the grey, wet weather yesterday, with the interior being calming and inviting, and the cooked breakfast and tea was excellent fuel for spending the rest of the day in Nottingham. I enjoyed my brunch in the cafe’s extension, which is only a couple of years old and it…
