Can’t believe it’s been a week since I last posted! Apologies for that. This viral flu thing is getting me down. What’s more, I had a case of full-blown writer’s block. I’m sure we’ve all experienced it at some point. It’s not that I don’t have content planned, but the posts are November-specific, so this last week of October proved to be difficult. Then, it hit me. Instead of not writing anything, why don’t I write about the very issue of writer’s block? It turns out there are places close to home to find inspiration to overcome writer’s block. Here are just some ideas to get that creativity back on track.
How to Overcome Writer’s Block
I went to the Leicester Botanic Garden last week and simply having a wander around the park and taking photos provided me with inspiration. The photos alone mean you have Instagram content sorted. In terms of blog posts, you could write:
- A review of your local park/gardens for a day out suggestion.
- Thoughts on the environment and why looking after our planet is key.
- Nature photography
Food and Drink
Who doesn’t love food? The potential for food-related posts is vast, and even if your niche is different, why not mix things up a bit?
It could be a review of a local eatery, a recipe or even writing about your favourite cooking show (Bake Off for me). Whatever it may be, there’s a wealth of foodie posts to help you overcome writer’s block.
Do a Q&A
If you’re struggling with content, a solution is to let your followers decide! Post on social media and do a Q&A, letting your followers write in their questions.
Reading Other Blogs
One of my primary sources for overcoming writer’s block is reading other blogs. There are so many blog posts with title and topic ideas. You may see a review of a product that you want to test out yourself. Of course, if you’re going to do your take on someone else’s post, make sure you check with them first if it’s ok.
Start your Own Blog Award
It’s great to see the number of blogger awards in the community. There are so many amazing and creative awards from Sunshine Blogger Award to Blogger Recognition Award. However, occasionally you can get nominated for the same award more than once, even after you’ve just done one. If you’re stuck for blog post ideas, you could always start your own award. It’s a lovely way to support your fellow bloggers and give back to the community.
What do you do to overcome writer’s block? Let me know if there’s something that should be added to the list!
