Blogger Interviews

Blogger Interview #5: Journal of the Lost One

It’s time for the second interview of the weekend! Today, we’ll be hearing from book blogger Chrissie over at Journal of the Lost One. Let’s see what she has to say about her blogging experience so far.
1) First of all, I have to ask what inspired the name of your blog, Journal of the Lost One?
When I was starting up the blog, I wanted a name that symbolized me. At that stage, I felt lost and hopeless. There was a lot going on in my life. It was like I couldn’t figure out myself, my headspace or where I wanted to go next. This blog got me back on track with what I love doing, reading, and writing.
2) As a book blogger, which book do you recommend for a great summer read?
I tend to read more dark books and paranormal fiction. One series I love in summer is The Dimily Trilogy by Estelle Maskame. (Chrissie has kindly sent over pics of the book covers)

3) You mentioned on Twitter that you are relatively new to blogging, what has been the most challenging aspect of starting a blog?
I’ve been blogging since the beginning of March. I think the one thing I find most challenging is writing the posts and knowing how many posts to do a week. And to get exposure and people to find your blog.
4) Name 3 blogs you are addicted to at the moment.
Paper Fury– her approach to writing posts have a funny quirkiness to them.
Jenny In Neverland – she has amazing advice for new bloggers and starting your own business (I’m addicted).
Mel to the Any – book reviews and recommendations.
5) If you could only use 1 social media platform, what would that be and why?
Twitter, mostly because I’m finally getting the hang of it. I don’t like Facebook at all. I’m hoping to start up an Instagram feed soon, still working on how I’ll get to everything.
6) What blog post are you most proud of and why?
My Harry Potter and Hogwarts Tag post and my Darkness Unbound post. I love Harry Potter – reading the books this year and sharing everything Harry Potter about me was such fun. The Darkness Unbound post was a short story I wrote. Currently, I’m working on part 2 and hope to publish it next month.
7) What future hopes/aspirations do you have for your blog?
To be able to inspire young people to love reading again. I don’t see many people read much these days and it makes me sad to think that this is an art that is not as popular anymore. I want to help change that.
8) Have you ever thought about writing your own book?
Yes, so much. I’m hoping to write my first novel by next year. Right now, I’m working on my proofreading and I want to start providing my services to self-published and Indie authors. As soon as this is up and running, I will start with my first idea – one that I’ve worked on and expanded over years now.
Gosh just seeing Chrissie’s answers makes me realise I need to read more. It’s been ages since I last read a book for pleasure, as I’d always use the excuse that I spend a lot of time at uni reading academic texts and that’s plenty. Now it’s the summer, I’m going get back into it.

I love reading blogger interviews, they’re always a nice way of getting to know others in the community! Chrissie’s blog sounds fab, I love reading book bloggers even though my TBR list expands sooooo much every time I read their posts haha! I’m definitely with Chrissie on the favourite social media front, I don’t use FB that much any more because Twitter is just so much nicer! I also prefer it to Instagram because engagement is way better on Twitter. I hope you find some time to read for fun soon, Megan!

Hi Abbey, thank you for your kind words. I hate that I have to work, if I could I’d probably lock myself in a tower (Rapunzel-like) and read as much as possible. Hope you find the time to enjoy your reading again.

I love reading interviews with other bloggers, it’s such a good way to help others get exposure and I find so many good bloggers this way. I am a huge reader and I definitely agree that I don’t know many people who do read that much which is quite sad. I am also hoping to write my own book, I might be tempted to start off with writing short stories and taking it from there. I love to share my love of books on my blog in the hope that I can inspire others to read them.

I agree with Chrissie about PaperFury (sooooooo funny!) and Jenny. I don’t know Mel to the Any so I’ll have to go and check her out. Chrissie really puts me to shame, I can’t believe how much she reads, haha, I need to carve out some time for more books too. A really interesting read, how lovely to get to know more about a fellow blogger! xx
